As an artist, my goal  is to capture the feeling of light in nature and the beauty of color I see around me.  It is always a delight when my paintings  allow others to see these things too.   I  have never desired to paint in any other medium than watercolor.  I love the glow of paper through the transparent layers of paint, and the flow of the pigments  as they mix on their own.  I go out and sketch from nature frequently, but most of my work is done in the studio from sketches and photographs that I have taken on site.

I graduated from San Jose State University with a B.A. in Fine Arts  and  then taught school for several years before retiring to raise a family.  I have loved painting and drawing since I was a child, but it was not practical to pursue until my children were older; then I had a chance to take lessons from such well known watercolorists as Jane Hofstetter and Marie Roberts.  I also have taken many workshops from nationally recognized artists, both here and in Colorado where I lived for 4 years.  My paintings have been in many local and regional juried shows and have won several awards. I am currently an active member of the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society, the Society of Western Artists and President for the Fine Arts League of Cupertino.
